Alex Appod Obituary, Death – A New Castle man was killed in a tragic single-car crash on Wednesday evening while being pursued by law enforcement. The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on State Route 956, just north of Eastbrook Harlansburg Road, according to a report from the Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Alex Appod, was reportedly involved in a high-speed chase that spanned multiple counties. The pursuit ended when Appod lost control of his vehicle while trying to navigate a curve. The car struck a bridge abutment on the north side of the road, which caused it to veer across to the south side, where it collided with another bridge abutment. The force of the impact resulted in severe damage to the vehicle.

Appod was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His 59-year-old passenger, whose identity was not disclosed, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to UPMC Jameson Hospital for treatment. The severity of the passenger’s condition has not been reported.

The police report did not clarify the reason behind the pursuit, but it confirmed that the chase began in New Castle. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the police involvement.
