Amy Ruth Oestenstad, Elton James Barks Jr. Obituary, Death – Authorities identify man and woman fatally shot in Jefferson County. The coroner has identified a man and woman killed in a murder/suicide in the Corner community on Monday. The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the 3500 block of White Road at 11:41 p.m. Deputies found Amy Ruth Oestenstad, 52, and Elton James Barks Jr., 55, had been shot.
Medics arrived and pronounced both of them dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office said the man was found to be the suspect in this incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that they were in a relationship. Oestenstad was shot, then Barks turned the gun on himself and fired, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
