Analisa Marisol Lopez Obituary, Death – The 18-year-old skateboarder who tragically lost her life on Halloween night after being struck by a car on the Westside Parkway has been identified as Analisa Marisol Lopez, a resident of Bakersfield.
According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on the westbound lanes of Westside Parkway, east of Allen Road. Lopez was riding her skateboard when she was hit by a vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the crash, and officials have shared details about the incident. Sergeant Richards from CHP emphasized the dangers of skateboarding or walking along roadways, particularly on highways and freeways, which are meant for motor vehicles. “It is very unpredictable and unsafe, especially crossing traffic lanes,” said Sergeant Richards. He went on to express the difficulty law enforcement faces in preventing such incidents, noting, “We try to enforce safety before these types of situations occur, but unfortunately, sometimes we’re a little late.”
Sergeant Richards also pointed out that pedestrians, including skateboarders, are not permitted on freeways. “It is against the law for pedestrians, in any case, to be on our freeways. You’re not allowed to ride your bike, scooter, skateboard, or even walk on the freeway unless you’re exiting from a disabled vehicle,” he explained, stressing the importance of following the laws intended to keep people safe on the roads.
In the wake of Lopez’s tragic passing, her family set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses. The family has expressed their sorrow and gratitude for the community’s support during this difficult time.
