Andruw, Wesley Cornett Missing – Brothers Andruw and Wesley Cornett, aged 19 and 17, are missing following a tragic incident during a duck hunting trip at a California lake. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office reported that the siblings’ kayak overturned on Thermalito Afterbay in Oroville on Saturday morning, leading to their disappearance.
According to their mother, April Clark, the older brother, Andruw Cornett, made a desperate 911 call shortly before attempting to rescue his younger brother. Andruw reportedly told authorities that time was critical and help might not arrive in time. After making the call, he jumped into the water to assist Wesley.
Since Saturday, extensive search efforts have been underway, involving multiple units from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Search and rescue teams, along with aviation and marine deputies, have been tirelessly scouring the area in an attempt to locate the brothers. Despite their dedication, the operation has transitioned to a recovery mission, as stated by Butte County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brian Evans.
The search operation is being bolstered by assistance from various local and state agencies, including sheriff’s offices from neighboring counties, Cal Fire, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
