Angie Stone Obituary, Death – Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone has passed away following a fatal car crash early Saturday. She was 63 years old.
Stone was traveling with her band members from Mobile, Alabama, to Atlanta when their van was involved in a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 65, approximately five miles south of Montgomery. According to police and her record label, the accident occurred when the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van she was in flipped over on the road before crashing into the truck.
Lt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that Stone, who was a passenger, died at the scene. Eight other individuals in the van sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“Never in a million years did we ever expect to get this horrible news. Our mom is and will always be our everything. We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken,” they shared.
Stone had recently performed at a Mardi Gras event in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday night. The Mobile-Area Mardi Gras Association honored her in a Facebook post, reflecting on her last performance.
“Angie’s performance at the 2025 Grand Marshal’s Ball was nothing short of phenomenal. We were truly saddened to hear of her passing, and our hearts go out to her loved ones,” the organization wrote.
Fans and fellow artists took to social media to express their grief and celebrate her contributions to music. Many highlighted Brotha, her tribute to Black men, and her work on the theme song for the TV series Girlfriends.
