Anthony Marsh Obituary, Death – Authorities in Selma have launched a death investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning. The incident left one person dead and another injured, prompting an active investigation by local law enforcement.
According to the Selma Police Department, officers responded to a shooting around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday in the 2500 block of Summerfield Road. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered a male gunshot victim who had already died from his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Anthony Marsh, a Black male. Lt. Ray Blanks of the Selma Police Department confirmed that Marsh was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to Marsh, another individual was found to have suffered a gunshot wound.
The second victim, a woman, was transported to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery for treatment. Officials report that she is currently in stable condition.
In connection with the shooting, two individuals have been taken into custody for questioning. Dallas County District Attorney Robert Turner, Jr. confirmed that both persons are being interviewed by investigators, though no charges have been announced at this stage.
Police are working to piece together the events that led to the gunfire. Lt. Blanks stated that there appears to have been an altercation prior to the shooting, but the exact cause and sequence of events are still under investigation.
“At this time, we know there was some type of altercation. We’re still investigating what led to the altercation,” Blanks explained.
