The U.S. Department of Defense has confirmed that another American service member has died after being critically wounded during a recent attack on U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia.

Officials said Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, passed away on March 8 from injuries sustained during an attack on March 1 at Prince Sultan Air Base. According to the Pentagon, Pennington served as a sergeant assigned to the 1st Space Battalion of the 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson.

Military officials described him as a dedicated noncommissioned officer known for his leadership and professionalism. Michael F. Dyer, commander of the 1st Space Brigade, expressed condolences to Pennington’s family, friends, and fellow service members, noting that his service and sacrifice would be honored. The Pentagon also announced that Pennington will be posthumously promoted to staff sergeant. Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.

Pennington is the seventh service member to die during Operation Epic Fury, which began on February 28 following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran. The strikes targeted senior leadership, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports.

Separately, the Pentagon confirmed the death of Sorffly Davius, 46, of Queens, New York, who died March 6 during a non-combat incident at Camp Buehring. Davius served with the Army National Guard and also worked as a police officer in New York City.

Officials say retaliatory attacks in the region have continued, with multiple U.S. troops reported wounded during recent incidents.

As the situation develops, military leaders say they remain focused on supporting affected families and protecting deployed personnel.

💬 With tensions continuing in the region, many are asking: how could these events shape the future of military operations in the Middle East?
