Candy La Torre Zapata Obituary, Death – A woman who died in a two-vehicle collision on the southbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills has been identified as 39-year-old Candy La Torre Zapata, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning, with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) receiving reports at 12:12 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene near the Winnetka Avenue off-ramp to find two damaged vehicles: a silver BMW and a black BMW. Large debris from the collision had spilled across multiple lanes, causing significant traffic disruption.
Tragically, Zapata was discovered beneath one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation by the CHP.
To facilitate the investigation, a SigAlert was issued, closing the southbound lanes of the freeway at Winnetka Avenue for several hours. Officials have yet to release further details about what may have caused the crash or whether any other injuries were reported.
