Cedric Hughley Obituary, Death – The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was fatally shot last week at the Dayton RoadDog gas station. The victim was Cedric Hughley, 35.

According to reports from the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, police were dispatched to the Dayton RoadDog located on N. James H. McGee Boulevard shortly after 2 a.m. following a report of a shooting.

Dayton Police Major Brian Johns held a press conference Thursday morning, confirming that a man had died at the scene and that the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident began when a driver stopped at the gas station and saw a person, reportedly Hughley, loitering in the rain. The driver allowed Hughley to enter their vehicle to get out of the weather. However, the situation escalated when Hughley asked for a ride, and the driver refused.

The disagreement reportedly turned physical, with Hughley allegedly assaulting the driver. In response, the driver shot Hughley during the altercation, which took place entirely within the vehicle. Hughley died from the gunshot wound.

As of Thursday morning, no charges have been filed, and no arrests have been made. The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if charges are warranted.
