Cody M. Burrow Death News – Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has provided additional details following a fatal incident involving a driver after a pursuit on Thursday evening.
At around 5:38 p.m., deputies attempted to apprehend Cody M. Burrow from Bradenton, who was wanted on an active felony warrant related to narcotics offenses.
During the attempted traffic stop near the intersection of Beneva Road and Webber Road, Burrow collided his grey Ford F-150 with a Tesla and several deputies’ vehicles, resulting in injuries to one deputy. Subsequently, he fled the scene, heading north on Beneva Road.
Approximately nine minutes later, at 5:47 p.m., deputies were notified of a traffic accident occurring at Lockwood Ridge Road and 53rd Street, roughly six miles from the initial stop.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the grey Ford F-150 had crashed into a utility pole. The driver, identified as Burrow, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and unfortunately did not survive the incident.
The injured deputy was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and is anticipated to recover fully from his injuries sustained during the traffic stop.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the fatal crash.
