According to a press release issued Monday, officers were called to the 800 block of East Braker Lane around 2:10 a.m. following a 911 call from a woman who reported that she had been shot and that another person was dead.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the female caller and a man, both of whom had suffered gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as 20-year-old Comarri Thompson. Police confirmed that the woman, who is Thompson’s girlfriend, was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Through their investigation, Austin Police determined that the couple had been sitting in their vehicle near the intersection of Braker Lane and Dessau Road when a white vehicle pulled up beside them. The occupants of the white vehicle fired several shots into the couple’s car, fatally striking Thompson. After the shooting, the suspects’ vehicle fled the scene.
Police believe the incident was a drive-by shooting, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
