Curtis Franklin Obituary, Death – Authorities have released the identity of the man found dead in a submerged vehicle in Floyd County, but the cause of his death remains unclear.
On April 10, at approximately 10:20 a.m., New Albany police responded to a report from a local resident on the 1000 block of W. Main St. The resident informed officers that a vehicle had struck his front steps, traveled through his yard, and eventually ended up in Falling Run Creek.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders discovered an SUV submerged in the creek with an individual still inside. Floyd County Deputy Coroner, Charles Moon, identified the victim as 62-year-old Curtis Franklin from Floyd County.
Moon indicated that Franklin might have experienced a medical emergency prior to the crash. However, authorities are awaiting further clarification on the exact cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for April 14, and investigators hope that it will provide more insights into the circumstances surrounding Franklin’s death.
