WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Wilmington Police Department has identified the man who died after a shooting in the Creekwood neighborhood on Monday evening, January 26, police say.
Officers were dispatched just after 6 p.m. to the 800 block of Emory Street following a ShotSpotter alert — a system that detects possible gunfire — and found a man with a gunshot wound at the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police have now identified the victim as 20‑year‑old Dajour Ellison of Wilmington. Wilmington police are investigating the shooting as a homicide and continue to work to gather information about what happened.
Officials are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Wilmington Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through the Tip 411 app to assist with their ongoing investigation.
