David E. Vigil Obituary, Death – A pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle in Reno last week has been identified as 61-year-old David E. Vigil, according to the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The tragic incident occurred near the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Moana Lane on the evening of February 6.

Emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 9 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Kietzke Lane, just south of Moana Lane. Upon arrival, first responders found Vigil with life-threatening injuries. He was immediately transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Despite efforts to save his life, Vigil succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The medical examiner’s office determined that his cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the collision with an SUV. His manner of death has been classified as an accident. Officials also noted that Vigil was believed to be homeless at the time of the incident.

Authorities have stated that speed and impairment do not appear to have played a role in the crash. The Reno Police Department is leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
