Dawn Tucker Obituary, Death – A tragic three-vehicle crash in north Durham on Saturday night claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman and left two others injured, according to the Durham Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in the 5000 block of N. Roxboro Street and resulted in the arrest of the at-fault driver.
Details of the Incident
Investigators reported that 42-year-old Nathane Blackmon of Durham was driving a 2011 GMC Yukon northbound on N. Roxboro Street. For reasons still under investigation, Blackmon’s vehicle veered across all lanes of traffic and entered the southbound side, where it collided with two oncoming vehicles: a 2009 Honda Accord and a 2000 Chevy Silverado.
The Honda Accord was being driven by Dawn Tucker, 67, of Durham. She was severely injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. A passenger in Tucker’s vehicle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.
The Chevy Silverado’s driver suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospital care.
Charges Against the Driver
Blackmon, who was also injured but sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was treated at a local hospital and subsequently arrested. Police charged him with multiple offenses, including driving while impaired (DWI), driving left of center, and failing to wear a seatbelt. Authorities indicated that additional charges are expected as the investigation progresses.
