The incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. when deputies responded to a call about a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on Route 12 near Carmean Road. According to law enforcement officials, a man was walking along the road when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
The driver of the car involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators stated that there is no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The pedestrian was later identified as 69-year-old Dehart Herbert Lamb of Snow Hill. Tragically, Lamb was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
