Dennis Lewis Jr. Obituary, Death News – A tragic motorcycle accident in Green Oaks claimed the life of a 35-year-old man from Round Lake Beach on Friday afternoon. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Dennis Lewis Jr.
According to the coroner’s office, Lewis died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and neck sustained during the crash. An autopsy confirmed these injuries were the direct cause of his death.
The incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Route 176 and Bradley Road. Authorities reported that Lewis was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading west on Route 176 when he collided with a 2008 Peterbilt semi-truck. The semi was in the process of making a left-hand turn from Route 176 onto Bradley Road when the crash occurred.
Emergency responders were dispatched immediately to the scene. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Lewis was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the collision, and no other injuries were reported.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Their Technical Crash Investigations Team is leading the effort to determine the exact sequence of events and what factors may have contributed to the fatal collision.
Officials have not released further details regarding the speed of the vehicles, road conditions, or whether any traffic violations occurred. At this point, no citations have been issued, and authorities have not indicated if alcohol, distraction, or mechanical issues played any role in the crash.
The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward as they work to complete their investigation. The community continues to mourn the sudden loss of Lewis, and the outcome of the investigation may offer some clarity to his loved ones.
Lewis’s death adds to growing concerns over the safety of motorcyclists on local and state roads. Accidents involving motorcycles tend to result in more serious injuries and fatalities, due to the limited protection these vehicles offer their riders. Authorities frequently remind drivers to remain alert and cautious when sharing the road with motorcyclists, especially at intersections where visibility and right-of-way decisions are critical.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office extended its condolences to Lewis’s family and friends, as they deal with the aftermath of this unexpected tragedy. As the investigation progresses, more information may be released to the public in the coming days.
Meanwhile, law enforcement and safety advocates continue to stress the importance of increased awareness, proper signaling, and caution when navigating turns or intersections, particularly when motorcycles are involved.
