Devin Shields Death News – A 23-year-old man was fatally shot by Gary police officers during a domestic dispute call on Saturday. The incident occurred at a home in the 2300-block of Waverly Drive around 4:55 p.m.
The police were called by a woman who reported an argument with her son. According to the authorities, the family had multiple police reports filed in 2024.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the mother at the front door, who informed them that her son was inside the house armed with guns. The officers then observed the man, later identified as Devin Shields of Gary, Indiana, holding a gun in each hand.
Police officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by asking Shields to put down the weapons. Despite their efforts, Shields reportedly began threatening both his mother and the police.
In response to the escalating threats, the officers shot Shields. He was quickly transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
