Dominic Ferrell Obituary, Death – Police have identified the victim of a recent fatal stabbing at a luxury high-rise in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood as 17-year-old Dominic Ferrell. The exact circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death, as well as how the suspected attacker later fell to his own death, remain largely unknown.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday on the 34th floor of the Icon Residences at 485 Brickell Avenue, a building that also includes the W Hotel, according to Miami Police. Officers responding to the scene discovered Ferrell with multiple stab wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially, authorities had described the victim as an adult male, but late Monday evening confirmed his identity and age.

The incident prompted a massive response from law enforcement, with police officers and SWAT teams flooding the area. Surveillance footage reportedly captured an individual fleeing the building following the stabbing. The suspect was seen running toward a nearby construction site.

Later that same day, officers located the suspect’s body inside the construction site. He was identified as 26-year-old Kyrill R. Kehl. It remains unclear how Kehl ended up dead, though authorities say this is a critical part of their ongoing investigation.

“We’re completely in the dark as to what led to this,” said Miami Police spokesperson Mike Vega. “There was no party happening, no large group involved. It appears that whoever did this entered that apartment intentionally.”

By Monday, a mobile crime lab had been set up outside the Icon Residences as police continued to gather evidence. Crime scene investigators and fire personnel were observed inspecting a grassy area around the property.

Residents of the Icon building and the surrounding neighborhood were left shaken by the violent event.

“I live right across the street from where this happened, and I’ve never witnessed so many police cars or SWAT teams here,” said resident Rick Colangelo. “There were at least 30 to 50 police vehicles. I’ve lived here for five years and have never seen anything like this.”

Others expressed disbelief that such an act of violence could take place in one of Miami’s most upscale and bustling districts.

In the aftermath, community members and local leaders are pushing for more transparency from property managers and enhanced security measures throughout the Brickell area.

NBC6 contacted the management team at Icon Brickell for comment but had not received a response at the time of reporting.

“People are worried about their safety,” said Christian Tang, who leads the Brickell & Downtown Miami Community Group. “There’s growing unease in the community, especially given other recent incidents in the past few months.”

Tang also noted that the stabbing comes shortly after an attempted rape was reported at another apartment complex nearby.

Police are continuing their investigation, interviewing potential witnesses and working to piece together the events that led to the stabbing and the suspect’s death.

“There’s still a great deal to uncover,” Vega said. “We have many avenues to explore and many questions left to answer.”
