LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. — A fatal crash in Laurens County, South Carolina, claimed the life of a driver early Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Highway 14, near Wilson Drive. Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, the identity of the victim has not been made public, pending notification of the next of kin.
Troopers have not yet disclosed what may have caused the vehicle to veer off the road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.
