The incident took place at approximately 1:38 p.m. when officers responded to the scene of the crash involving two vehicles: a 2015 Subaru driven by Dylan Thomas Bird and a 2012 Ford Focus.
According to police, Bird was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of Hillside Road when he attempted an unsafe lane change. This maneuver caused both vehicles to make contact, leading to a loss of control. As a result, the vehicles veered off the road and struck a nearby residence and a wooden electrical pole.
Bird, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A child passenger in Bird’s Subaru sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The 31-year-old driver of the Ford Focus also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
