Edwin Dubon, Lionel Martinez Obituary, Death – Omaha police have released the names of the individuals involved in a deadly crash that occurred early Sunday morning. The collision took place near the intersection of 13th and M Streets at approximately 2:30 a.m.

According to investigators, a 2016 Dodge Durango was traveling northbound at a high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV veered off the roadway and slammed into a retaining wall, causing a violent crash that resulted in the vehicle catching fire.

Two of the occupants, the driver and the front seat passenger, were ejected from the vehicle due to the impact. Police identified the driver as 22-year-old Edwin Dubon. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The front passenger, 24-year-old Lionel Martinez, was found in extremely critical condition and was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

A third passenger, identified as 15-year-old Haidon McGinnis-Perovich, remained inside the burning vehicle. Firefighters and emergency crews worked quickly to extricate him from the wreckage. He was then airlifted to a specialized burn treatment center in another state due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the vehicle’s speed and whether any other factors may have contributed to the accident. It is not yet known if alcohol or other substances played a role, and officials have not announced any definitive conclusions at this time.

The area around the crash site was closed off for several hours as police and emergency crews responded and collected evidence. Witness statements, surveillance footage, and vehicle data are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The fatal crash has left the Omaha community stunned, especially given the young ages of those involved. Friends and family are mourning the sudden loss of Edwin Dubon and hoping for recovery for the two surviving passengers.
