Erik Colon Obituary, Death – A young man has been identified as one of the victims in a triple shooting that took place on Chicago’s Northwest Side, according to county officials. The incident occurred early Sunday morning around 3:26 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Crystal Street, located in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Chicago police reported that three individuals were shot during the incident. Instead of waiting for emergency responders, all three victims transported themselves to nearby hospitals for treatment. They were later moved to Stroger Hospital for further medical care.
Among the victims was a 23-year-old man who sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and groin. Another victim, a 16-year-old boy, was shot in the right armpit. The third victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and right arm. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday at Stroger Hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased victim as Erik Colon.
As of the most recent updates, the 23-year-old man and the 16-year-old boy remained in critical condition. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and authorities continue to investigate.
Police have not released any details regarding a possible motive or suspect in the case. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
