Fernando Alvarez Obituary, Death Topeka police have identified 26-year-old Fernando Alvarez of Topeka as the pedestrian who tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in the 2500 block of S.E. Adams.
Officers responded to the scene shortly after midnight, where Alvarez was found and pronounced dead at the location, according to Rosie Nichols, a public safety communications specialist with Topeka’s city government. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, and police have not disclosed whether the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene or fled following the collision.
As part of the investigation, the area around the crash site was closed off to traffic for several hours, with the roadway reopening around 7 a.m. Sunday morning. During this time, authorities collected evidence and worked to determine the details of the accident.
