Forest Eugene Crippen 3rd – A fatal single-vehicle crash in Worcester County is under investigation by the Maryland State Police (MSP) after an early morning accident on February 16. Authorities responded to the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m. following reports of a crash on southbound U.S. Route 113, just south of Blades Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Honda Accord was traveling south when it veered off the roadway for reasons still being determined and collided with a tree. MSP stated that impairment may have contributed to the crash.
The front-seat passenger, identified as 34-year-old Forest Eugene Crippen III of Pocomoke City, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 35-year-old Yakia Shree Brittingham of Berlin, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and once it is complete, findings will be submitted to the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether any charges will be filed.
