Frances Tallmadge, Robert Tallmadge Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the two individuals who lost their lives in a serious multi-vehicle collision that occurred Monday afternoon in the Village of Waukesha. The victims have been named as Frances Tallmadge, 91, and her husband Robert Tallmadge, 92, both residents of Oconomowoc. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office confirmed their identities through a statement by Lt. Nicholas Wenzel.
The fatal crash took place at the intersection of Highway 164 and Lawnsdale Road. According to the initial findings from the sheriff’s department, the incident occurred when a semi-truck driven by a 44-year-old man was traveling south on Highway 164. At the same time, Frances Tallmadge, driving northbound on the same highway, attempted to make a left turn onto Lawnsdale Road. During the turn, her vehicle entered the path of the oncoming semi-truck.
The semi-truck struck the Tallmadge’s car with significant force, causing it to be pushed into another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. As a result of the collision, both Frances, who was driving, and Robert, her passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the couple could not be revived due to the severity of the impact.
The driver of the semi-truck and the driver of the third vehicle involved were both transported to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. No other passengers were reported in any of the vehicles involved.
The crash led to the closure of the intersection for several hours as law enforcement officers and emergency crews worked to clear the scene and conduct a thorough investigation. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office received support from multiple agencies, including the Wisconsin State Patrol and fire departments from both the Village of Vernon and the Village of Waukesha.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation to determine whether any further factors contributed to the crash, such as weather conditions, speed, or mechanical failure. So far, there has been no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved.
This tragic accident has deeply affected the Oconomowoc community, where Frances and Robert Tallmadge were known and loved. Their sudden loss has prompted an outpouring of grief and condolences from friends, family, and neighbors.
As investigators work to understand the full circumstances of the crash, authorities are reminding drivers to use extra caution when navigating intersections, particularly when turning across oncoming traffic. No further details regarding funeral services for the Tallmadges have been released at this time.
