Gabriel Siqueira Obituary, Death – Authorities in Massachusetts are investigating a tragic single-vehicle accident that took place early Saturday morning in New Bedford, claiming the lives of two teenagers and leaving another person injured. The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on Route 140 South and has left the local community mourning the loss of two young lives.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, police received a 911 call reporting the incident shortly before 2 a.m. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a 2019 Honda Civic that had sustained extensive damage, particularly to the passenger side. The vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest in a wooded area on the right side of Route 140.

Authorities said that two passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. A 17-year-old boy from West Yarmouth, later identified as Gabriel Siqueira, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 15-year-old girl, whose name has not been released, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she sadly passed away shortly afterward.

A third occupant, identified as an 18-year-old from Dartmouth, was also taken to the hospital with injuries that officials described as non-life-threatening. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and investigators are working to determine what led to the loss of control. The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, in cooperation with the Massachusetts State Police, is continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.

At this time, officials have not released information about who was driving the vehicle or whether any charges might result from the investigation. Authorities are examining factors such as speed, road conditions, and possible distractions to understand what caused the vehicle to veer off the roadway.

Emergency crews worked for several hours at the site, assisting victims, documenting the scene, and clearing debris. The crash caused a temporary closure of a portion of Route 140 South as investigators collected evidence and worked to safely remove the damaged vehicle.

News of the tragedy has deeply affected the community, especially at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, where one of the victims, Gabriel Siqueira, was a student. School Superintendent Marc Smith confirmed Gabriel’s passing in a statement released on Sunday.

“Gabriel was known for his energy, passion, and the inspiration he brought to everyone around him,” Smith said. “He will be deeply missed by his teammates, coaches, friends, and the entire D-Y community.”

Siqueira was described as a dedicated varsity soccer player and an active student who had a positive influence on those around him. Teachers and classmates have been sharing memories of his kindness, motivation, and enthusiasm both in sports and academics.

In response to the heartbreaking loss, the high school announced that counseling and support services will be available to students and staff throughout the week. School leaders emphasized the importance of community unity and emotional support during this difficult time.

“On behalf of the entire D-Y community, we offer our deepest condolences to Gabriel’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” Smith added.

Local residents have also been expressing sympathy and offering support to the families affected by the tragedy. Many community members have left flowers and messages of remembrance, reflecting the widespread grief felt across the region.

The Massachusetts State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is leading the technical analysis of the incident, which includes reviewing evidence from the vehicle, roadway markings, and potential witness accounts. Officials said that their goal is to determine the sequence of events leading up to the crash so that future accidents of this nature can be prevented.

As the investigation continues, no additional details have been released. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office or state police.

The New Bedford crash serves as a somber reminder of how fragile life can be and the importance of road safety, particularly for young drivers and passengers. The community now mourns the loss of two promising teenagers whose lives were cut tragically short, while supporting those who continue to recover and heal.
