Gary Archambault Obituary, Death – A tragic crash in Oceana County on Sunday afternoon has claimed the life of a 66-year-old man and left a female passenger injured. Authorities with the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Gary Archambault of Muskegon.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on June 22 along US-31 near Park Road in Grant Township. According to the sheriff’s report, deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash involving a 2019 Jeep Wrangler.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that Archambault had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. A woman who was traveling in the vehicle with him sustained injuries and was transported to Trinity Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby. Officials said she is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.

The sheriff’s office conducted a preliminary investigation into the cause of the accident. Their findings revealed that although Archambault’s seatbelt was fastened, it had been buckled behind him, indicating that it was not worn properly at the time of the crash. Investigators believe the Jeep veered off the road and entered the median, where it flipped multiple times before coming to a stop.

At this point in the investigation, authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors in the crash. However, the full circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review.

Emergency response teams from several local agencies assisted at the scene, including Life Ambulance, the Grant Fire Department, and the Rothbury Police Department.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash and urges drivers to always wear seatbelts correctly and remain alert while driving. Further information may be released as the investigation progresses.
