Gary Landyn Jacobs Obituary, Death – A North Carolina family is grieving the tragic loss of their teenage son after a fatal early morning crash in Lake Waccamaw. Authorities confirmed that 17-year-old Gary Landyn Jacobs died on Thursday morning when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The accident occurred around 4 a.m. as Jacobs was on his way to work at his family’s logging business, a job he deeply loved. Despite efforts by first responders to provide medical care at the scene, Jacobs did not survive his injuries.

His uncle, Josh Simmons, shared that Landyn’s dedication to the family business was undeniable. “What he was going to do that morning … he wanted to be in the logging woods, he was going to work,” Simmons explained. “Without a shadow of a doubt, anybody who knows Landyn knew he was going to be running a crew in the logging woods with his brother and daddy.” His words highlighted the teen’s strong work ethic and the pride he took in following in his family’s footsteps.

Jacobs’ death comes at a time when he was preparing for his senior year of high school. According to relatives, he had been saving money from his work over the summer to get ready for the school year. One of his greatest hopes was to finish out his last season on the baseball field, where he had already made a significant impact.

“He was dynamic, he was a go-getter, and a clown on the baseball field that made everybody laugh,” Simmons recalled. “He was a gem at second base. Just recently, he won the MVP of our eastern tournament.” His natural talent, combined with his personality, made him a cherished member of his team and community.

Beyond work and sports, Landyn also enjoyed spending time with his friends. One of his favorite hobbies was riding four-wheelers, often taking them into ponds after installing snorkels on them. These adventurous moments reflected his love for fun and his fearless spirit, qualities his loved ones will never forget.

Family and friends describe his loss as a devastating blow. They say Landyn was not only a hardworking young man but also a source of joy and inspiration to those around him. His laughter, energy, and determination made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Simmons emphasized the importance of family unity as they face this painful tragedy together. “We are all about family, and if one of us hurts, then all of us hurt,” he said. “We got each other’s back, and we are going to be there for each other, his momma and daddy and aunt.”

The community has rallied around the grieving family, offering support during this difficult time. To honor Landyn’s memory, a candlelight vigil has been scheduled for Saturday night, giving friends, teammates, and neighbors the chance to gather and remember the young man whose life ended far too soon.

At just 17 years old, Landyn’s death leaves behind a void in the hearts of his family and community. His story is a reminder of how fleeting life can be, and how a young life filled with promise can be cut short in an instant.
