Gloria Vasquez Obituary, Death Cause: A 76-year-old woman who was fatally struck while crossing a street in Pacoima has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as Gloria Vasquez.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Monday in the area of Osborne Street and Haddon Avenue. Authorities reported that Vasquez was attempting to cross the street outside of a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle.
According to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver was heading westbound on Osborne Street at the time of the collision. After hitting the woman, the driver failed to stop and offer help.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, but Vasquez was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
Police were able to locate and arrest the driver not long after the incident. The individual is now in custody, although further details about the suspect’s identity or possible charges have not yet been released.
Due to the crash, Osborne Street was temporarily shut down between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Haddon Avenue as investigators examined the scene and collected evidence. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine all contributing factors.
