Gregory Derisso Obituary, Death – A tragic mass shooting occurred early Monday morning in downtown Los Angeles, leaving two people dead and six others wounded, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The violence unfolded around 1 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Place and Griffith Avenue, in an area where several parties were reportedly taking place. LAPD officers had already been in the vicinity since around 11 p.m. Sunday as part of routine patrols when they observed what they believed to be an unauthorized gathering. More than 50 people were present at that party, which police shut down and dispersed. During the process, one individual was arrested for possession of a firearm.

Just a few hours later, officers were called back to the area following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found eight individuals who had been shot. Tragically, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 52-year-old woman who had been critically wounded was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Among the six surviving victims, two were listed in critical condition, while the other four were reported to have less severe injuries. Authorities stated that the wounded victims ranged in age from 26 to 62 years old. Some were taken to the hospital by emergency responders, while others managed to get there on their own.

Family members later identified the male victim who died at the scene as 29-year-old Gregory Derisso. His father, Judner Derisso, shared the tragic news and expressed his grief over losing his son in such a senseless act of violence.

As of now, police have not disclosed a clear motive for the shooting. Investigators are still piecing together what led to the gunfire and whether any specific individuals were targeted. It’s also unclear if any suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the attack.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to come forward as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The incident has once again raised concerns about public safety in areas where large gatherings occur, particularly those that may not be officially sanctioned or monitored. LAPD has not confirmed whether the earlier shutdown of the unauthorized party is directly connected to the shooting, but the timeline suggests the events may be related.

Community members and city leaders are expected to respond in the coming days, as the search for answers and accountability continues. Meanwhile, the victims’ families and loved ones are left to mourn in the wake of another violent night in Los Angeles.
