Ho Yu Wong Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the man who was pulled from the ocean at Rodeo Beach in Marin County on Tuesday. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim was 78-year-old Ho Yu Wong of Oakland.

According to officials, Wong was fishing for mussels along the shoreline when he fell into the water. Nearby bystanders managed to pull him out, but he suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:19 p.m.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies conducted a thorough search of the water, which lasted about 45 minutes before concluding around 3:30 p.m. The response involved personnel from the National Park Service, the United States Coast Guard, the California Highway Patrol, and the Southern Marin Fire District.

The National Park Service had issued a beach hazard warning on Monday, alerting visitors to the dangers of sneaker waves. The advisory remained in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Officials have urged beachgoers to exercise caution around the shoreline, especially during hazardous conditions.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with coastal fishing and the unpredictable nature of the ocean. Authorities have extended their condolences to Wong’s family.
