Holly Dollar Obituary, Death – A tragic accident in Calumet Township claimed the life of a Laurium woman after she was struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car at approximately 3:30 a.m. on March 15. The crash occurred near the intersection of Lake Linden Avenue and Hecla Street.
Authorities identified the victim as 48-year-old Holly Dollar of Laurium. According to the sheriff’s office, Dollar was walking along Lake Linden Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jordan Racine Klarich of Calumet.
Emergency responders transported Dollar to UPHS Portage for initial treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later airlifted to UPHS Marquette. Despite medical efforts, Dollar was pronounced dead upon arrival at the regional hospital.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Racine Klarich at the scene on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and authorities are awaiting the results of Racine Klarich’s lab tests before determining formal charges.
The sheriff’s office has not released any additional details at this time. Laurium Police and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene.
