Hussain Farhat Obituary, Death
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the tow truck driver killed in a hit-and-run incident on December 24 and announced that a suspect has been taken into custody. The victim has been identified as Hussain Farhat, a tow truck driver employed by Yaffo Towing, based in Chicago, Illinois.
Farhat, 39, was struck by a blue minivan on the shoulder of I-94 East near Sawyer Road in the village of Summit on Christmas Eve. The incident occurred just before 6:45 p.m. as Farhat was attempting to load a disabled vehicle onto his truck. The driver of the minivan did not stop and continued driving east before exiting at Highway C. Farhat was rushed to a hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The investigation into the crash took a significant turn on Christmas Day when authorities received an anonymous tip that led them to the village of Wales. Based on this tip, the sheriff’s office was able to build a profile of the suspect involved in the incident. Later that day, the 39-year-old man who was identified as the driver of the minivan turned himself in to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities recovered the suspect’s vehicle from a residence in Wales, and the man is currently being held at the Waukesha County Jail. He faces charges for a class D felony of hit-and-run and causing death.
Lieutenant Nicholas Wenzel of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office expressed sympathy for Farhat’s family, offering condolences during this difficult time. “Our heartfelt condolences are with the Farhat family,” Wenzel said. “We would like to thank the public for their assistance and support with this investigation.”
Both the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The cooperation of the community, along with the quick actions of law enforcement, has been instrumental in bringing the suspect to justice.
