Israel Price Obituary, Death – The man who was fatally shot by Sacramento County deputies last Thursday in Fair Oaks has been identified as 24-year-old Israel Price from Carmichael, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The incident began on Wednesday night around 11:40 p.m. when deputies responded to a report of a shooting during a dispute between roommates at an apartment on the 6600 block of Moraga Drive in Carmichael. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered that Price had fled the apartment with a revolver-style handgun.
A search for Price ensued, and just before 3 a.m. Thursday, he was located on the rooftop of a home on the 6800 block of Ashfield Way in Fair Oaks. At approximately 3:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office reports that Price fired his weapon toward the deputies. In response, three deputies returned fire, striking Price, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure following such incidents. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office will conduct a review of the case once the investigation is complete.
As the investigation continues, questions remain about the circumstances leading up to the fatal confrontation, and the community waits for further details to emerge from the ongoing review. The incident has raised concerns about law enforcement’s response and the escalation of the situation, especially given the tragic loss of life.
