Izaiah Thor Rodriguez Obituary, Death – A 20-year-old man fatally shot last week on Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield has been identified as Izaiah Thor Rodriguez, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The incident took place on Thursday, June 13, 2025, just before midnight. Around 11:57 p.m., Bakersfield Police officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of Stockdale Highway after receiving reports of an unknown disturbance. Officers who were already in the vicinity at the time reportedly heard several gunshots ring out from the area and rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered a man—later confirmed to be Rodriguez—suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel quickly transported him to Kern Medical Hospital, but despite efforts to save him, Rodriguez was pronounced dead a short time later.
As officers arrived, they saw a juvenile male fleeing the scene. A search of the surrounding area was initiated, leading to the apprehension of the suspect without further incident. Authorities have not released the suspect’s exact age or identity due to his status as a minor.
Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene, which is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. Police also said a witness who was present during the incident was able to positively identify the suspect during a field lineup conducted shortly after the arrest.
