Jaime Melendez-Martinez Obituary, Death Cause  – A man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in New Haven late Wednesday night. Authorities have identified the victim as 58-year-old Jaime Melendez-Martinez, a local resident.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Foxon Boulevard. Melendez-Martinez had reportedly exited a Walmart parking lot and entered the eastbound lane of traffic when he was hit. Investigators noted that he was not using a marked crosswalk at the time and was crossing the roadway in an unmarked area.

The vehicle that hit him was traveling eastbound on Foxon Boulevard, heading toward Quinnipiac Avenue. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, and Melendez-Martinez was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. His family has since been notified of his passing.

Following the collision, the driver involved initially left the scene. However, police reported that the individual later came forward and voluntarily went to the New Haven Police Department to report the incident.
