Jake Wagner Obituary, Death – Authorities have released the identity of a man who died in a single-vehicle accident in Dunn County. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Jake Wagner, a resident of the Durand area.

According to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. on 960th Street, just south of 1010th Street, in the Town of Springbrook. A 911 caller reported that a vehicle was on fire and that there appeared to be one person trapped inside.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered a Jeep that had veered off the road and landed in a ditch after colliding with a tree. Although the vehicle had sustained major damage, the fire—limited to one of the tires—had already been extinguished by bystanders before authorities arrived.

Deputies located the driver, later identified as Wagner, deceased inside the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the crash may have been caused by a mechanical failure. This failure likely led the driver to lose control of the Jeep, causing it to leave the roadway. The vehicle partially rolled before crashing into the tree.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities continue working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
