James Johnson Obituary, Death – A crash in Washington County Thursday night resulted in one fatality and left another person injured. South Strabane Township police responded to the scene on East Beau Street in Washington around 8:30 p.m. following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, authorities found the road completely blocked by two vehicles that had sustained heavy damage. One of the individuals involved in the crash was reportedly trapped inside their vehicle.
Initial findings from police investigations suggest that the driver traveling eastbound on East Beau Street, near Eastpointe Drive, swerved and crossed into the westbound lane, causing a head-on collision with the second vehicle.
The eastbound driver, identified as 65-year-old James Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the westbound vehicle sustained only minor injuries and was able to receive treatment.
It was noted that Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, a factor that may have contributed to the severity of the incident. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine all circumstances surrounding the crash.
