Jason Behenna Obituary, Death – The man who tragically lost his life in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Boston Post Road has been identified as Jason Behenna, the sports information director at Regis College in Weston. Behenna, 50, from Marlborough, was pronounced dead at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham shortly after the crash, which occurred at approximately 8:22 a.m., as reported by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Behenna’s contributions to Regis College were deeply felt within the community. According to Regis College President Antoinette Hays, Behenna was a “ubiquitous presence” at the school’s athletic events, serving as a mentor to countless undergraduate and graduate students. Hays praised Behenna for his lasting influence on the university’s athletic programs and student-athletes. “His indelible contributions to the university have shaped the athletic and professional careers of innumerable student-athletes and all of our athletic programs,” Hays said in a prepared statement.
Behenna was driving a Hyundai sedan along Boston Post Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Lexus SUV driven by a 40-year-old woman from Cambridge. The crash resulted in severe injuries for Behenna, who was transported to MetroWest Medical Center, where he later passed away. The woman, who has not been identified, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to another local hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Similarly, Lasell University in Cambridge honored Behenna, praising his commitment to highlighting the achievements of Regis student-athletes and coaches. “His unwavering passion and dedication to showcasing the achievements of Regis student-athletes and coaches were admired not only within the Regis community but also throughout the GNAC,” said Lasell’s Athletic Department in a Facebook post.
Behenna was described by the Athletic Department at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, as “a major voice in the Sports Information world” with a career spanning 25 years. Colby-Sawyer College commended his hard work and dedication during his time at Regis, particularly his leadership of the athletic communications staff, which earned the title of GNAC Athletic Communications Staff of the Year in 2022-2023.
Behenna had worked as Regis College’s sports information director for seven years, during which he became an integral figure in the college’s athletic programs. Before joining Regis, Behenna had worked at various colleges across the United States, including institutions in Vermont, New Hampshire, Washington, and Louisiana. His broad experience and commitment to promoting sports played a key role in the development of Regis College’s athletics.
In response to the loss, Regis College is offering counseling services to staff and students to help them cope with Behenna’s passing. A prayer service was held for Behenna on Wednesday, with President Hays offering words of comfort. “As a community of faith, we pray for Jason and for the strength of his loved ones and colleagues during this difficult time,” Hays said.
