Jayen Gladden Obituary, Death – Authorities have released the identity of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot in Hopkins, South Carolina, on Sunday morning. The victim, Jayen Gladden, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body inside a home located in the 100 block of Hunting Avenue. The shooting was reported around 10 a.m. Gladden was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced that a 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. Deputies responded to the scene following a report of gunfire and discovered Gladden sitting in a chair inside the house. Investigators allege that Gladden had been visiting the suspect at the time of the incident.

Authorities believe the 14-year-old suspect was handling a handgun near Gladden and unintentionally discharged it while attempting to clear the weapon. The single bullet struck Gladden, causing the fatal injury.

The investigation led to the 14-year-old being charged with involuntary manslaughter and illegal possession of a weapon by a minor. Officials continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the tragic shooting.
