Jazmien Rae’Lynn Hernandez Obituary, Death – The victim in a fatal shooting on Cunningham Road in Killeen has been identified as 28-year-old Jazmien Rae’Lynn Hernandez. The incident occurred Thursday afternoon, prompting emergency responses from Killeen Police officers after multiple 9-1-1 calls were made reporting shots fired. Officers arrived at the Best Western Plus on Cunningham Road at approximately 1:18 p.m. and discovered Hernandez and a 34-year-old man, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers began performing life-saving measures on both victims until paramedics arrived on the scene.

Despite efforts to save her, Hernandez succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman. The male victim, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White hospital. He was conscious and alert when transported, though his condition remains stable.

Initial investigations revealed that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between the 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, which took place outside the hotel. During the altercation, both individuals exchanged gunfire, resulting in injuries to both men and Hernandez, who was apparently caught in the crossfire.

Witnesses at the scene reported that after the shooting, the 32-year-old man fled on foot in a southerly direction. This prompted a search in the surrounding area by the officers. Shortly thereafter, police were notified that a man with gunshot wounds had arrived at a local hospital. Authorities were able to confirm that the man at the hospital was the same individual who had fled the scene.

At present, both the 34-year-old and the 32-year-old men are in stable condition at the hospital, and the investigation is ongoing. The police are continuing to gather information and piece together the events leading up to the shooting, and they are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
