Jere Charginghawk Obituary, Death Cause – Lincoln police have released the identity of the pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the northern part of the city over the weekend. Authorities confirmed on Monday that the victim was 44-year-old Jere Charginghawk.
The fatal incident occurred early Saturday morning, around 12:30 a.m., near the intersection of North 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway. According to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD), Charginghawk was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby business in that area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Charginghawk unresponsive. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the location. The vehicle that struck him had already left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Police say that based on preliminary findings, there is no indication that alcohol or drug use played a role in the crash. However, the exact circumstances of how and why the incident occurred are still under investigation.
