Jesus Vela Obituary, Death – The man killed in a shooting outside a bar in San Antonio early Monday has been identified as 34-year-old Jesus Vela. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity. Vela was pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour after the incident.

San Antonio police responded to a report of the shooting around 12:45 a.m. at Aura Bar and Lounge, located at 10200 Ironside Drive on the city’s North Side. According to the police, the incident occurred following a fight that broke out between two groups on the bar’s patio.

Vela, who was outside in the parking lot at the time, reportedly pulled out a gun and fired toward the two groups. In the chaos, three people were injured by the gunfire: a 23-year-old man, a 29-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman.

Witnesses at the scene said that another man, who had observed the shooting, returned fire at Vela. The gunfire exchange struck both Vela and the man who had returned fire. All five individuals involved were transported to the hospital for treatment, with Vela later succumbing to his injuries.

Following the shooting, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) initiated an investigation into the bar, looking into its role and any potential violations related to the incident.

The police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
