Jonathan Guiliani Obituary, Death – An 18-year-old young man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, authorities confirmed. Police responded to the 800 block of Aquahart Road in Glen Burnie shortly after 5 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jonathan Guiliani, a local resident, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, Guiliani was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of now, investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made, and police have yet to identify a suspect or uncover a possible motive. Guiliani’s death marks the third homicide recorded in Anne Arundel County for 2025 as of April 20. In comparison, law enforcement reported 10 homicides in the county throughout the entire year of 2024, according to the police department’s daily crime updates.
This latest incident adds to a string of violent events that have occurred in the region this year.
On March 4, a quadruple shooting in Severn resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injured two others. That shooting took place in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road. Police say a basketball game was underway when the gunfire erupted. Upon arrival, officers discovered a chaotic scene with multiple victims.
One of the men killed in the Severn incident was identified as 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald of Severn. He died at the scene. Another victim, 28-year-old Mack Samuel Halloway III of Glen Burnie, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The two additional victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the Severn shooting, police received reports about a suspicious vehicle believed to be linked to the incident. Officers located the vehicle near Pioneer Drive and Jacobs Road. Two individuals were found inside and are believed to have been involved. Anne Arundel County police spokesperson Adrienne Johnson confirmed that the vehicle had been flagged as possibly connected to the shooting.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they were informed about a vehicle of interest,” Johnson explained. “After locating it, they encountered two individuals who are currently part of the investigation.”
Just a few weeks later, another shooting in the region left a man dead and a child injured. On March 19, Annapolis police were dispatched to a reported shooting near a bus stop on Clay Street. When officers arrived, they found 36-year-old John Simms Jr. fatally wounded and an 11-year-old child with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities believe the incident began as a verbal argument that escalated into physical violence. During the fight, pepper spray was reportedly used, creating confusion and panic. In the chaos, police say 45-year-old Roscoe Jerome Jones of Oxon Hill pulled a gun and opened fire, striking Simms and the child.
Annapolis Police Chief Ed Jackson described the sequence of events that led to the shooting. “The situation escalated quickly. There was an argument, then a fight, then mace was sprayed. People were scattering, and then suddenly, a firearm was discharged,” Jackson said.
Jones was apprehended on April 7 in Washington, D.C., and is facing charges related to the fatal shooting.
The incidents this year have stirred concerns among residents and local officials about the increasing violence in the region. Community leaders have called for stronger intervention efforts to curb gun violence, including youth engagement programs, increased patrols in high-risk areas, and collaboration between law enforcement and community groups.
Anne Arundel County authorities say they are continuing to investigate all three cases and are asking the public for help. Community involvement, they emphasize, is key to solving these crimes and preventing future ones.
The police department continues to offer a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in homicide cases, including the recent shooting of Jonathan Guiliani.
As detectives work to track down those responsible, Anne Arundel County remains focused on stemming the tide of violent crime and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
