Jose Trevizo Obituary, Death – A fatal two-car collision in Boyle Heights claimed the life of 77-year-old Jose Trevizo, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, authorities confirmed on Friday. The crash occurred Thursday night around 9:06 p.m. at the intersection of East Fourth Street and South Fresno Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Details of the Incident

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find three people injured and trapped in the wreckage. Trevizo, the driver of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the other car, identified as an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, were transported to nearby hospitals in serious condition, the LAFD stated.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s preliminary investigation revealed that Trevizo was driving westbound on Fourth Street and turning left onto South Fresno Street when his vehicle collided with a Mercedes-Benz traveling eastbound at high speed. Surveillance footage captured the impact, showing the Mercedes striking the side of Trevizo’s Honda.

Eyewitness Accounts

Local residents described the crash as another tragic example of the dangers on this stretch of road. Connie Lomeli, a witness, speculated that the Mercedes-Benz was traveling at speeds of 85 to 90 mph. “They were going pretty fast,” she said, noting that the teens involved in the crash did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Residents in the area expressed frustration about frequent speeding and accidents in the vicinity. Many described the stretch of Fourth Street as hazardous due to reckless driving, adding that crashes have become a recurring issue.
