Emergency responders, including police officers and paramedics, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and began providing immediate medical care to Pimpinella. She was quickly transported to Norwalk Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Lieutenant Tomasz Podgorski confirmed Monday that the department is withholding the identity of the pickup truck’s driver, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. The Norwalk Police Crash Reconstruction Unit has been assigned to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Officials stated that Pimpinella lived in a local assisted living facility in Norwalk. Despite multiple efforts, police have so far been unable to locate any of her family members or next of kin. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the official cause of death was determined to be “blunt impact injury of the torso,” and the manner of death was ruled an accident. The findings confirm that the injuries sustained during the crash were responsible for Pimpinella’s death.
