Joshua Morton, Francisco Montez Obituary, Death – Two men fatally shot in Corcoran have been identified as 30-year-old Joshua Morton of Hanford and 19-year-old Francisco Montez of Corcoran, according to authorities.
The incident happened just after midnight on Thursday near the intersection of Dairy and Stanley avenues, where police were called in response to reports of gunfire and a crash near a local business.
When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been struck by a vehicle. Investigators say she had just finished closing her food truck for the night when she was hit. She was treated for her injuries at the hospital and later released, according to her relatives.
Inside the vehicle that hit the woman, officers found Morton in the driver’s seat suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Shortly afterward, police were informed that Montez had arrived at a hospital in Tulare with gunshot injuries. Despite medical treatment, he later died from those wounds.
This incident marks the third homicide case in Corcoran this year. Police have not released any additional information about what led to the shooting or whether there are any suspects. Authorities are asking anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Corcoran Police Department.
