Justin Rodriguez Obituary, Death – San Diego Police have released the identity of the man who was killed in a shooting on Monday night. The victim has been confirmed as 33-year-old Justin Rodriguez, a resident of Freer.
Police Chief Ben Gomez reported that officers were called to the St. Mary’s Apartments, located in the 200 block of Mier Street, shortly before 7 p.m. on Monday evening. When officers arrived, they discovered Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. Despite efforts to assist him, Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Chief Gomez, the incident occurred while Rodriguez was visiting his girlfriend at her apartment. During his visit, a group of her friends arrived with the intention of confronting him over accusations that he had physically assaulted her. What started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into violence, leading to Rodriguez being shot.
Authorities recovered a .44 caliber handgun at the scene, which is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
The individual responsible for the shooting fled the scene before police arrived. Law enforcement officials have not yet identified the shooter, and no arrests have been made as of now. The case remains an active investigation, and the San Diego Police Department is receiving support from the Texas Rangers in their efforts to track down the suspect and uncover further details.
