Keith Truesdell Obituary, Death – A police shootout in Lewis County, Kentucky, resulted in a suspect being killed and a deputy suffering injuries, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
Authorities say the incident began late Tuesday night when the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic disturbance involving a man discharging a firearm. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered the suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Keith Truesdell.
During the confrontation, Truesdell opened fire, striking one of the deputies. In response, other deputies returned fire, fatally wounding him. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, but Truesdell succumbed to his injuries.
The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released. Officials have not disclosed the severity of the deputy’s injuries or further details about the domestic disturbance that prompted the initial police response.
KSP has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No additional information has been released at this time.
